“As an amateur artist and collector I conclude that I was exposed to Kiyomi’s work too late when available wall space was already at a premium. Two of her works have found their place but I admire so many more and would be happy with a house filled with her art. She works in a wide variety of mediums and achieves textural and color effects that are amazing. But more than that, so many convey to the viewer a sense of the ethereal and the serene. It is never easy for a artist to achieve this level of mind to mind connection with a viewer; but she has done it with me.”
"Kiyomi Baird’s creations come from a place deep within her. They are infused with her vitality, her calmness and her Zen. There is no escaping the quiet draw her art exerts.
In some of her work orbs and other shapes float in a dreamy vapor of bliss. Her personal solar systems seems to be ever-changing spaces, moving almost in slow motion and yet, they are really stationary and in two-dimensions. Is it sleight of hand or magic? Her works cast a spell—the on-looker is at once, soothed and pulled into the image. Staring at one of her paintings, it is easy to be transported into her ethereal world. It is a place so welcoming that it is difficult to leave.
The emotional otherworldliness she imbues in her art, becomes an element of change allowing the viewer to discover new, unseen things in a canvas they have lived with daily. Kiyomi’s pieces stimulate the imagination while they placate the soul.”
“For the past several years, I have had the good fortune to be living with Kiyomi’s work. Each day I derive more rewards from them. Her technical mastery of different mediums gives her works a depth and complexity while preserving the purity of the colors. The physical works serve as a platform for the spiritual aspect that slowly reveals itself. Long-time viewing is rewarded by an appreciation of not only the craftsmanship but a discovery of this other level. My favorite work in our collection 'Spirit Guide’ does just that. I feel that the figure is guiding me on to another space of peace and serenity somewhere in the cosmos. But her more abstract works also have this spiritual element more subtly presented. I anticipate each new show with great expectations as she continues to experiment with combining mediums producing exciting results while always retaining the spiritual element.”
